Two weeks ago, the AHA varsity football team traveled to Blake and beat them 34-0, making AHA’s record 3-1. Last week for Homecoming, they took on their toughest opponent yet, the 4-0 Totino-Grace Eagles. On the opening drive for the Eagles, AHA forced them to punt, but unfortunately it led to nothing. The first quarter ended 0-0. In the second quarter, the Eagles got off to a hot start by scoring the first touchdown of the game. They then quickly followed up with another rushing touchdown, ending the first half 14-0 in favor of the Eagles. In the third quarter, AHA gained some momentum by stopping Totino-Grace on a fourth down try. AHA then went down the field and scored a long rushing touchdown, but missed the extra point. Just when AHA got some energy going, it ended when the Eagles returned the kickoff for a touchdown; thus closing the 3rd quarter 21-6 in favor of the Eagles. At the start of the 4th quarter, the Eagles stopped AHA on a fourth down, leading to an Eagles punt. Unexpectedly, AHA fumbled, giving Totino-Grace great field position. This unfortunately resulted in a rushing touchdown for the Eagles. With little time left in the 4th quarter, the Stars got one final push. They ran down the field and scored a passing touchdown, deciding to go for the two point conversion, but woefully failed in their attempt. The Eagles then ran out the clock, ending the game 28-12 in favor of the Eagles. AHA fell to 3-2 and the Totino-Grace Eagles rose to 5-0.
