One of the most notable differences this school year is the staff change in the Physical Education/Health department. Over the summer, Mr. Yackly, AHA’s former gym teacher, accepted a job as Dean of Students at a different school. Due to his departure, Logan Shaffer has taken over.
Shaffer is a native Minnesotan and was raised with two sisters and a brother. During his years attending school, he began to grow a deep passion for sports, which led him to look into a career within physical education. Shaffer went go on to pursue this love for athletics at Concordia University in St. Paul and graduated with a bachelor’s degree.
Shaffer says that he “want[s] to make a positive impact on young minds, guide them to discover their potential, and develop critical life skills.” Shaffer believes high school “influences people’s future paths,” hence his decision to teach in this age group. In his class, he emphasizes the values of teamwork, perseverance, and staying active. As a community, AHA is grateful to have Shaffer and would love to welcome him to the school.
