As the AHA boys hockey regular season comes close to an end, the boys can look back on a successful and record-breaking year. The Stars have reached a record of 17-3-1 following a 6-3 win against Blake on January 31st.
This year, multiple players achieved major milestones in their hockey careers. Juniors Gabe Perron and Lincoln Ayers Assad both earned their 100th career point this season. In addition, senior captain Henry Lechner reached his 200th point very early in the season. Finally, on January 25th, Henry Lechner broke the AHA boys hockey all time point record with his 253rd point.
A highlight of the season was on January 22nd, when the Stars played section 6AA opponent Wayzata. The first goal of the game came from Ayers Assad to put them up 1-0 early in the first period. Soon after, a goal from junior Cole Cheeseman put the Stars up 2-0. To finish it off, Lechner and Perron both snagged goals, securing the win for AHA. The game’s final score was 4-1 for the Stars.
Sophomore Teddy Lechner talked about the season so far: “It’s been a good season, we have a good record this year… Job’s not finished.” The boy’s season has been very successful and the team is confident that they will continue to go far, hoping to secure a spot in the State Tournament at Xcel Energy Center in March.
