Football
With just two regular season games left, AHA football found yet another tough matchup on Thursday, playing 5-1 Chanhassen. It was a back and forth game all the way through, but unfortunately the Stars could not manage to convert on a 2 point attempt, and Chanhassen won the game 21-20. The Stars will close out the regular season at home this Wednesday, as they face Waconia at 7pm, at the StarDome.
Boys Soccer
After the conclusion of the regular season, AHA boys soccer took on South St. Paul and Richfield in the section quarter and semi finals. The boys beat South St. Paul 3-1 and were level 1-1 with rivals Richfield heading into penalty kicks. Unfortunately, the Stars lost the shootout 4-3 and saw their season end early. The boys end the season with a record of 10 wins, 6 losses, and 1 tie.
Girls Soccer
Girls soccer also began their postseason run in the past week, with games against Richfield and Simley. The girls beat Richfield 3-1 on Wednesday and beat Simley 3-0 on Saturday, as the team secured its spot in the Section 3AA Championship. The Stars will take on Two Rivers this Tuesday in the StarDome at 7:30pm for the section championship and a chance to compete in the state tournament.
Volleyball
AHA volleyball took part in a big game as they took on the New Prague Trojans (#11 in Class 3A) last Tuesday. The Stars were able to take the first set 25-21, but unfortunately, they lost the other three sets and lost the match 3-1. They were able to put that in their rear window over the weekend when participating in a tournament at Benilde-St. Margaret’s. The girls won their first match of the day 2-0 against Holy Family. They ended up losing their next match against Benilde-St. Margaret’s 0-2. Finally, they rallied during their last match against Mahtomedi and won 2-1. The squad takes part in their last regular season game this Tuesday as they take on Southwest Christian at 7pm at Southwest Christian High School. Make sure to come out and support our Stars!
Cross Country
AHA cross country travels to Battle Creek Park Reserve this week to take on the Tri-Metro conference at their conference meet. After running well at the Jordan Invitational, this squad is looking forward to competing hard and hopefully winning the conference. The Tri-Metro Conference Championship meet takes place this Tuesday with boys running at 4:30 and girls running at 5:10. Make sure to come to the meet and wish them good luck in the halls!
Girls Swim & Dive
The AHA/Richfield girls swim & dive co-op was quite successful last week. They were able to beat Minneapolis South at their meet last Tuesday. The team was also involved with a fundraiser on Saturday called 100 x 100s; each swimmer swam 10,000 yards. The total amount raised is unknown, but it was a great turn out. The girls have their next meet this Tuesday, which is also senior night for all the AHA and Richfield seniors on the team. They will be competing against Fridley at 5:30pm at Richfield Middle School pool. Go support our seniors and the rest of our swimmers and divers!
