The Holy Angels Ski Team consists of many hard-working athletes. They practice Monday through Thursday for two hours, with race days on Wednesday. Races began in January and take place at Highland and Buck Hill. Skiers further their racing experience by watching, cheering, and learning from other racers and teammates.
Upperclassmen Sylvia Guertin and Samuel Delaney look forward to racing with their friends, as well as building stronger relationships with their teammates during this upcoming season. The team is excited for its new freshmen members as Guertin expresses, “they bring good energy to the team” and she looks forward to seeing them succeed throughout the season. Delaney enjoys the many aspects of being on the ski team, such as “fitness, the adrenaline rush, and making friends.” The team is excited to be racing again, as well as experience new and more things, as many events were limited due to COVID restrictions.
Some notable moments from the season so far include Senior Olivia Lewis finishing third place overall in the Conference, the girls’ team finishing third in the Conference, and the boys’ team placing fifth. They are enjoying the season with their recent Senior Night, where they all got to dress up in fun costumes while skiing. Lastly, the ski team has Sections next week and is looking forward to it!
