Mrs. Kern is the ceramics teacher at Holy Angels and has been teaching here for three years. She began her journey in college with an undergraduate degree in Theatre, Design, and Technology. From there, Mrs. Kern worked in a high school, helping students create sets for theater. After being told she should teach, she chose Ceramics and went back to school to get her master’s degree and a Fine Arts teaching license. Then, Covid hit, and she had to adapt to online learning, which is hard for a ceramics class to move online. She gave students the opportunity to create three-dimensional art and use materials found at home. Her favorite part of teaching is, “I love busting the myth that artists are born as special sparkly unicorn babies, and if you weren’t blessed with the magic fairy dust, you’re out of luck” She loves seeing students try, fail, and achieve things they did not know they were capable of. A fun fact about Mrs. Kern is she loves all things Marvel, DC, Disney/ Pixar, anything rainbow, and doing a victory dance when her students succeed!
