The past 30 months have been the strangest in our lifetimes. We have endured a global pandemic, social unrest, an insurrection, the start of a movement, and so much else. But the sun is coming out from behind the clouds. This will be the first normal school year since our freshman year, and as we embark on this 2022-23 school year, we are excited to give you the news and insights of your fellow students.
Under the empowering leadership of our graduated editors-in-chief (and the resurrectors of the paper) Grace Clements and Claire Krieger, the AHA newspaper reached a standard of monthly publications regarding the happenings of AHA. From dances to sports games, teacher interviews to movie reviews, The Blue & Gold has given students insight into the thoughts and contributions of their peers. Newspaper staff members include talented photographers, writers, and editors willing to volunteer their skills to improve our work.
Building off of the previous year’s accomplishments, we hope for this year’s newspaper to go even further. We hope to gain and retain many new members. We hope to recruit both freshmen and current students who did not participate in Newspaper Club last year. We hope to publish and print trimester recaps for the entire student body, staff, and faculty. We hope to include all sports and activities going on at AHA. We hope our staff will gain experience in writing and editing that will prove beneficial for their future education. We hope for upwards of eight editions throughout the school year with comprehensive articles about student life, sports, clubs, teachers, things happening in the classroom, and events outside of our school community. Overall, we, The Blue & Gold staff, hope for students to join this club and have fun while collaborating on subjects they are passionate about.
We look forward to seeing what this year will bring!
