Released just over a month ago on October 22, Dune has over 300 million dollars earned in the global box office. The science fiction film is only the first part of an adapted version of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel Dune. Timothée Chalamet, alongside many other acclaimed actors including Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Issac, and Stellan Skarsgård, stars in Dune. Chalamet’s character, Paul Atreides, belongs to the greatly respected House Atreides and faces intergalactic political issues as well as challenges of his own self-discovery. The film features extraordinary visuals of deserts in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, bringing to life the planet Arrakis from the novel. Not only is the cinematography praised, Dune’s score, created by Hans Zimmer, compliments every scene and only contributes to the awe of the film. At the forefront of all remarkable aspects of the film is director Denis Villeneuve, a fan and appreciator of Dune even in his childhood. His visions for this rendition of the story resulted in a memorable cinematic experience for any audience member, regardless whether they’ve read every book of the eight-part series or are simply going to watch for fun.
