JV team celebrates undefeated season

The AHA girls soccer team is finishing up another very strong season as they currently are working towards their ultimate goal of winning the state championship in October.  They ended their current season with a record of 14-2-0, with the two losses coming against teams in the 3AA conference, and are going into the playoffs ranked second in Class 2AA. The team exploded with 52 goals scored for the team by a variety of players, including goalkeeper and captain Chloe Sandness ‘23, while only giving up 7 goals the whole regular season. The team shows no signs of slowing down, as they have beaten Richfield and Simley in the playoffs and, at the time of writing, look to win sections by defeating Two Rivers on Tuesday night.

Despite having lost 7 seniors from last year’s team, the current players are determined to make it to U.S. Bank Stadium and win state. The girls varsity team this year includes girls from every grade including three new freshmen, Audi Hess ‘26, Addy Judson ‘26, and Ellen Neuharth ‘26, all of whom are already making a big impact on the field. The captains, Sandness, Madden Smith ‘23, Steph Goedde ‘23, and Audrey Garton ‘24, look to keep up the energy and momentum surrounding the team as they fight for the section title. This AHA team has already become back to back to back Tri-Metro Conference Champions and had many impressive moments throughout the season. These include beating their rivals Visitation 1-0 and recording their largest margin of victory against Fridley; a game with a score of 10-0 and 7 different goalscorers.

Although the varsity girls soccer team had an amazing season, all of the program’s teams, including JV and C Squad, had impressive performances. The girls JV team went 14-0-0 throughout the season and accomplished a massive goal differential with 67 goals scored for the team with none being scored against. The C Squad also had a splendid season, with a record of 11-0-2. They scored 69 goals, while their opponents only managed 3. The highlight of both teams’ season came when they both recorded victories against their equivalent teams at Washburn, securing the Nicollet Cup for Holy Angels.

Everyone should come to watch head coach Dave Marshak and the girls soccer team at US Bank stadium as they fight their way towards another deep run in the playoffs.
